The intense economic and trade activity in Medieval and Renaissance period is continued in the nineteenth century by the prosperous manufacturers. In Sebes are founded” The Baumann” textures (1834), the Leather Workshop –“Dahinten" (1843) and the Timber factory "Baiersdorf & Biach”
Since 1897, Sebes is connected to the railway, the route Vintu the Jos-Sebes, and after1897 the road is opened on the Sebes Valley.
A prosperous urban activity was recorded during 1900 - 1914, during Mayor Johann Schöpp mandate, when they built the new City Hall, the Old Post Office,the Communal Bathroom, the Slaughter_house, the Gym,the Forest House,the Hospital,the Power Plant and the Army Barracks.
The Union from the1-st of December 1918, gave the Sebes City residents and those from nearby villages the opportunity to prove their adherence to this event.The National Guard Commander in Sebes was captain Daniel Tecau and the first elected Mayor of the Romanian and the Saxons after the 1-st December 1918 was attorney Lionel Blaga, Lucian Blaga brother.
After the 1945 the nationalization and the expropriations made by the communist government had as its object agricultural properties and industrial buildings,and were particularly made upon the "landlords", "kulaks" and "Industry Owners", regardless of nationality-Romanian, Germans, Hungarians, Hebrew etc.
